    4 Kit Condi Engi

Based on the meta build for fractals and raids, this is a condition damage Engineer build with very high damage and utility.

    Pros:
    – Uses the same Viper’s gear as meta builds, so you don’t have to buy a new set of gear.
    – Deals very high single-target damage as well as respectable AoE damage.
    – Lots of soft and hard CC.
    – Lots of endurance regeneration, so you can dodge liberally.

    Cons:
    – Steep learning curve.
    – Reliant on projectiles and conditions to deal damage.

    Overview

Condi Engi is famously one of the hardest classes to play because of its “piano rotation.” This is because it has a lot of skills, all of which have different purposes and hidden cooldowns. However, for those willing to put in the time to learn what Condi Engi is capable of, it’s a very powerful solo class that can adapt to almost anything the game throws at you. In this guide, I’ll try to break down the daunting skill list and explain which skills to use in different contexts.

    DPS Rotation

Dealing damage as a Condi Engi boils down to using your highest-damaging skills off cooldown. These are your highest DPS skills:

    – Pistol 4 (Blowtorch)
    – Grenade 2 (Shrapnel Grenade)
    – Bomb 2 (Fire Bomb)
    – Flamethrower 4 (Napalm)
    – Flamethrower toolbelt (Incendiary Ammo)

When starting out as a Condi Engi, focus on using these skills as often as possible, using other skills to fill in the gaps. As you become more familiar with the cast times and cooldowns of your other condi skills, you can try weaving them into your damage rotation.

Here’s a burst rotation for killing trash mobs quickly:

    – Flamethrower toolbelt (Incendiary Ammo)
    – Pistol 3 (Static Shot)
    – Pistol 4 (Blowtorch)
    – Swap to Grenade Kit
    – Grenade toolbelt (Grenade Barrage)
    – Grenade 2 (Shrapnel Grenade)
    – Grenade 4 (Freeze Grenade)
    – Grenade 5 (Poison Grenade)
    – Grenade autoattack until things are dead

Here’s a more involved opening for fighting Veterans and the like:

    – Flamethrower toolbelt (Incendiary Ammo)
    – Mortar toolbelt (Orbital Strike)
    – Pistol 3 (Static Shot)
    – Pistol 4 (Blowtorch)
    – Swap to Grenade Kit
    – Grenade toolbelt (Grenade Barrage)
    – Grenade 2 (Shrapnel Grenade)
    – Grenade 5 (Poison Grenade)
    – Grenade 4 (Freeze Grenade)
    – Swap to Bomb Kit
    – Bomb toolbelt (Big Ol’ Bomb)
    – Bomb 2 (Fire Bomb)
    – Bomb 3 (Concussive Bomb)
    – Swap to Flamethrower
    – Flamethrower 2 (Flame Blast)
    – Flamethrower 3 (Detonate Flame Blast)
    – Flamethrower 4 (Napalm)

For even more DPS, you can do tricks like casting Pistol 2 and cancelling it after the first hit, swapping to Mortar Kit to proc Streamlined Kits in melee range, etc.

    Blinding Mobs

Condi Engi has two giant pulsing blind AOEs in Bomb 4 and Mortar 4, as well as a large number of incidental blinds. This means you can weave these skills into your rotation to blind mobs for almost 100% uptime. With smart placement of Bomb 4 and Mortar 4, you can fight huge packs of mobs while taking little to no damage.

    CC

Your main hard CC skills are Bomb toolbelt (Big Ol’ Bomb) and Flamethrower 2 (Air Blast). You also have access to a massive AOE immobilize in Pistol 5 (Glue Shot) and a lot of chill, blind, and cripple. Use these to break bars, to keep mobs standing in your damaging AOEs, and to lock down slippery enemies like Mordrem Teragriffs/Forged Forerunners.

    Healing

Healing Turret is one of the strongest heal skills in the game. It heals for a massive amount and cleanses in an AOE while having only a 20-second cooldown. Use it liberally to top yourself off and self-cleanse. You can pick it up for a reduced cooldown of 15 seconds (!!!) or detonate it to blast the water field and get more burst healing. If you’re still in danger of dying, or if Healing Turret is on cooldown, you can also use Flamethrower 2 (Flame Blast/Detonate Flame Blast) to blast the water field from Healing Turret or Mortar 5 (Elixir Shell).

    Stealth

If there are a lot of hard-hitting mobs in an area, you may prefer to skip them entirely. To do this, swap one of your traitlines to Scrapper (it doesn’t matter what traits you pick) and swap in Elixir S and Sneak Gyro. These two skills combined give you 35 seconds of stealth, allowing you to channel a hero point, open a chest, or whatever. Take note that you’ll need to move slowly for your Sneak Gyro to catch up with you.

    Cleanses and Stunbreaks

You shouldn’t have too much trouble with conditions thanks to Healing Turret, but if you need even more condi cleanses, you can swap one of your utilities to Elixir Gun and slot the Alchemy trait that cleanses a condition every time you use an elixir. This essentially makes conditions a non-issue.

You also shouldn’t need extra stunbreaks, because you have a free Utility Goggles traited. But if you do find yourself getting knocked down constantly, you can slot an additional stunbreak like Elixir U, Elixir S, or Elixir Gun (toolbelt skill).

    Conclusion

Condi Engi is a very powerful open world class that can hold its own, whether you’re solo or in a group. It may be hard to pick up, but once you learn all your skills and the correct situation to use them, it’s an immensely rewarding class to play.
